Default remembering chords you create in alt tunings--app?

I'd like to be able to remember some of the chords I create in alt turnings. Is there an app that lets you fill in chord boxes with your own chords? I want to add the little circles that indicate where your fingers go in what fret and string.

Thanks.

It's a bit old school but how about pen and paper?

Learn to use a tab program (personally I use PowerTab (free, works with Windows) and PDF 995 (free) to convert to PDFs. I prefer stuff saved on my computer.

This is still a bit old school but not as old as pen and paper.

You should be able to copy these into a text editor. If you save them in Windows be sure to change the encoding from 'ANSI' to 'Unicode' or it will revert into separated dashes.

To enter characters use 'Insert' mode and either numbers for fingering or Xs or Os.

Thanks Stanron. Pen & Paper is good. I prefer computer because it's one less "thing" in my house. Your shapes for word processing works. I'll give that a try.

Rick-slo, Powertab won't work for me because I'm on a Mac, but maybe there's a Mac equivalent. Thanks for the suggestion.

For example:

Tuxguitar
TablEdit
GuitarPro

I have dabbled in all of the above. Tuxguitar is still free I believe and may be what to try first for what you are trying to do.

I use Musescore to note things I want to remember. It lets you create chord diagrams but, more usefully, imo, you can create tabs and scores with the tuning of the strings changed to match your alternate tuning. You can also take a melody in a score and translate it automatically into a tab and the program can play your compositions. A bit of a learning curve but the manual and support forum are good.

I use a program called "neck diagrams" on the mac for creating chord and scale patterns. Just point and click to create dots. it's not a tab program, just a drawing program for guitar necks! It doesn't know anything about tunings or anything, you just create dots anywhere you like, like drawing on paper. They can be exported as PDF or jpeg, so I use it for creating lesson material and so on.
