Thanks Amy. I only hope that it stimulates serious consideration.

I don't know the OP circumstances or anything, but I know for myself as a highly motivated "self-teacher," it's actually really difficult to find the right teacher. I rarely meet anyone who can understand my questions, much less answer them. I know what I really want/need is a graduate program, but that's not happening. If you have any specific suggestions, I'm happy to consider them myself.

My only suggestion would be to keep looking. Obviously not everyone is a highly motivated self-teacher so your needs may be more specific and thus finding the right teacher may be harder, but my guess is as this is a larger world getting that much smaller, they very well could be out there.

Yeah, of course. Always looking.

I've had my personal best results attending summer camp for guitarists, signing up with one or maybe two instructors, and going full immersion for the week on a focused course of study.

The wide variety of learning and teaching styles is really evident at guitar camp, and it helped me to fine tune my verbal description of what exactly I hoped to accomplish in a given classroom situation.

A week of guitar camp provides me with a full year of self-directed study, that can be supplemented with stuff from YOUTUBE, or discussions here at AGF, or with others I play with in jams.

Oh, that's great to hear! Yes, I had liked that idea. I've actually been traveling for the last year, but what's a good one? I could plan ahead.

That would depend on what you'd like to study.

I would recommend these to start with:

Swannanoa Gathering
https://www.swangathering.com/catalo...itar-week.html

Fur Peace Ranch
https://furpeaceranch.com/workshops.html

Ashoken Music
http://ashokan.org/guitar-camp/

Just knowing that people think they are good quality is very helpful. Thank you.
