+1 well said...

Bad calls, enforcement of the rules, instant replay, arm chair quarterbacks and arm chair commissioners. No one forces us to watch. I think I will go play my guitar...

The NFL is harder to watch, especially if its not your favorite team, I find College ball hard to watch as well. I tell you, its technology that is making television harder and harder to watch. Between the smart a** all knowing commentators, the pre-game analysis, the statistics they flash on the television, the _______ fill in the blank ad nauseum that presents itself. It has reduced my time that I watch sports all across the board, from Basketball, Football (college and pro).

Just like the Weather Channel, broadcasters are making a simplistic daily watching into a charade, I'm pretty much sick of it,

Some of those calls in the Bears Pack game were absurdly bad. They're trying so hard to protect the players these days, but at a certain point it just ruins the game.

That Bears game was indeed a really badly called game.

Those of us that remember Howard Cosell know that you haven't really heard ad nauseum unless you heard him call a game. "And there's number 32, Joe Johnson. A young man from Ft Wayne Indiana who drives a 1968 Corvette, wears Fruit of the Loom underwear and likes pistachio ice cream".

One thing I have noticed is that the announcers have stopped covering for the bad calls. They are beginning to call 'em as they see 'em and
vociferously disagree with the refs, and they are also bringing in specialists to analyze and criticize the refs during the game. That's rather new.

From since I was in diapers I've heard people complain that the referees are killing American football. It hasn't happened yet. Of course there are bad calls, and sometimes a lot in a particular game. But that is nothing significantly different from the past few decades.

I also feel generally why there are more flags recently is because a lot of players have yet to fully adapt to the newer rules. You cannot fault the referees for players that won't follow the new rules.
