Takamine GD51 CE
I picked up one of these for approx "£250 in a guitar store today.
It was B Stock. so it was a used guitar. After trying out a few times I was quite impressed with the sound unplugged or plugged. The build quality is very good too. I changed the strings to Elixier Polyweb 12 gauge. I was really impressed with the built in Takamine preamp eq. It has a master knob and a three band eq and its so easy to get a sweet sound when you tweak. I was able to get a full bodied sound going through my AER compact 60. Infact the preamp has a lot of headroom I don't need to add my LR Baggs Para DI box where as my other guitars I tend to use the Para DI. I hear Takamnes are well known for there great preamps. The guitar sounds particlarly sweet going through a TC Electronics Hall of Fame reverb pedal. I have it on the hall setting. I m well pleased with this purchase. |
