Default mcintyre feather gf 30

I've not seen too much talk about this anywhere on Google but I'm pretty impressed with the sound images that I've heard. I've read every post going back a few years on this forum. Seriously considering a purchase to blend with a second pickup and a dual input acoustic pre. I understand that it is passive and that the manufacturer actually recommends using a preamp of some sort. I'm just really surprised that there is not more chat out there regarding this device because it sounds amazing and apparently has been around for a long time. I think it is one of the best sounding SBT pickups on Doug Young's site as well

Anyone using this method?

I know Al Petteway had been using a McIntyre Feather in his Tippin's. Not sure what else is in his signal chain other than those gorgeous Humphrey amps!

Best,
Jayne

I installed one maybe 10 years ago in a Martin DX-1 with good results. A preamp is not always required depending on what you are plugging into. Jon

I put one in my Franklin OM last year and I love it. I prefer it to the other SBT's I've tried (more natural sounding, less feedback). I agree it doesn't always need a preamp.

Thanks for the responses guys- apologies for getting back so late. The cost is not bad either for a product that, to my ears, actually sounds better than some of the more popular options. I'm just hoping to get a good strong signal when dialed in with another source and through like a Tonebone PZ Pre.

Do any of you guys happen to know the output impedance on the Feather?

Don't know the impedance but I was surprised by how strong the output was.

Martin Simpson told me he has one guitar with a Feather as a dual source with his usual Highlander. Told me it sounded great.
