Enjoy, Steve! I LOVE my AER Compact 60/2, and I would guess that the version 3 is nothing less than that...

One thing I really like about mine is that, as you turn the volume up to performing levels, the sound dispersion is remarkable, very much like my Bose L1 system... the Compact will cover a really large room with ease, I have found... even singing and playing through it, the net result far exceeds the actual amplifier's claims!

@stevety - preamp is not really needed, if you use AER amp - it's preamp is capable to handle passive piezo transducers (i.e. K&K)

It's true that the AER (I have version 2 too) does a remarkable job on its own, but with my Taylors, all equiped with K&K, I was even better served with the K&K XLR preamp and since about a year I'm even blessed with the AER colourizer which is now my preferred preamp. Super!!!

I have a K&K in my Goodall Grand Concert, and I have to say that I was not happy with the tones I was getting from it, through either my AER Compact or my Bose L1 system (even using the T1 Tonematch uint) UNTIL I got a hold of the K&K PURE XLR preamp.

With the PURE in the signal chain, that pickup sounds really good, with little or no tweaking of the EQ to get there! I also love that I can use the phantom power on channel 2 of the AER or with my Bose and dispense with ANOTHER power cord or battery that needs looking after...
