I plan to spend today (Saturday 1/27) at the Sebastopol Guitar Festival, and will have several of my guitars along. There will be a number of other Luthiers there, as well as ongoing guitar entertainment, workshops, jamming, all the usual stuff. Mary Flowers is the featured artist, and I am looking forward to hearing her for the first time. If you come, please say hello to me.
Just before I left the shop last night I did glue the back onto the L00. Hopefully it stuck. |

Apparently not taking too many photos on the JB-L00. That's probably because I have no customer to keep abreast of the progress. Also, one of the reasons I take so many photos of a customer's project is so that if I go astray on the specifics of my instructions it gives me someone to blame besides myself.
Putting on the cutaway bit of the binding looks a bit haphazard, perhaps, but it works very well for me. I use Titebond I for this process, and the rope method is capable of providing the kind of clamping pressure this glue requires, which masking tape cannot. |

The back (sanded 80 grit) as I am about to bind it:

I have completed the binding on the JB-L00, including the graft. I threw a little more asymmetry into this body than most of my previous JB series. Thus the graft pictured here is level to the floor and the camera, while the backstrip is far from plumb. This Amazon is the prettiest set ever, in my eyes.

Here the back straight on still mounted in my dovetail fixture:

Beautiful wood and work--definitely some primo stuff, Bruce!

I have the neck carved and fit, but not yet logo'd. I am quite amused by the side "dots", particularly the 7th fret one, which is as small a bird as I have ever cut, and yet has quite a bit of realism. To give an idea of scale, the dot in the middle is 2mm.
I had thought this guitar was coming in heavier than typical, which is understandable as it is Amazon Rosewood. Perhaps I am losing muscle mass fast than I thought, as it weighs just 3 1/4 pounds and should barely break 3 1/2 with machines, frets, bridge, and finish. |

Hey nice pictures Bruce! I particularly like the magic way you can balance that guitar on the scale!

Why thank you, Mark. I do like to think my guitars have a natural balance . . . And I am flattered that you see anything in MY photography worth complimenting, for yours are the high standard of this forum.

Your welcome Bruce. Those are very nice "in the shop" photos which is something I need to get better at doing but, mostly it's what you're taking pictures of. I mean that's a fine looking dog you got there and the guitar ain't bad either!

Koal is a very serious dog with a great sense of humor; perfect for my "purposes". 55lbs and plays with the Big Dogs.

I have sealed the JB-L00. I also have the pore-filler on, but that makes pretty ugly pictures until that too is sealed, which it won't be for a day or two.

I have been putting off cleaning and polishing the Pernambuco OM I made for Tom Tsouris pending deciding whether or not to take as partial trade a Telecaster Tom made and which I really enjoyed playing when i visited him last fall. But no longer, I will ship it tomorrow. Here are some pictures for you, my loyal supporters:
