Default 1935 Gibson L-50 Incoming

I bought one of these online the other day (1935 L-50 with carved top and flat back). It looks to have been thoroughly trashed cosmetically, but the price was right and it was advertised as perfectly playable. The top has been sanded down to bare spruce, so I will probably keep it that way, instead of trying to reproduce the sunburst. The top has a small hole down near the tail that will need to be patched first.

I have ordered a proper replacement bridge, tortoise pickguard and bracket. I will probably install a floating "monkey on a stick" pickup, once I get it sorted.

I will probably apply a few thin coats of shellac to the top, either that or do a very light refin with a can of satin nitro.

Anyone been in a similar circumstance with lessons to share?
