Default End pin preamps

Hi all. Have a question about endpin preamps. I have an Article endpin preamp in my Epiphone Hummingbird. I have a Dean Markley woody type soundhole pickup. My problem is I can't seem to get enough volume. Has anyone had any experience with these preamps.
I am leaning towards my amp not being big enough, but wanted to get opinions on the preamp anyway.

Try using electric strings, if I remember the pickup is magnetic and you are only sensing the core of the wound strings. Also plug into a regular amp input, not one designed for a piezo, the impedance would not match.
