Default It Never Fails

So, I see a post and think I should reply. I compose an enlightening, brilliant little bit of prose that, if widely read, may change the world for the better. I proudly hit "Submit Reply" and my brilliance is met with "Thread Closed" denying the planet of my insights.

Is it not possible to have a flashing red light or something to warn you when actively replying to a doomed thread so you can save the typing? Or maybe a Closure Countdown Clock so you can speed type and still get it in under the wire?

I, for one, feel deprived of your enlightenment. Perhaps you could copy and paste these words of wisdom each time it happens and post them all at once in a stream of consciousness format? The world awaits....

Maybe I could get my own sub-forum category for "Cognition Interrupts"

I really fear that someone seeing a post will be prompted to finally share their formula for World Peace or the cure for cancer, get the "Sorry, Thread Closed" message, and just say "screw it", delete the post and deny mankind their wisdom.

I haven't even dried my hair yet. While in the shower I was mulling over my own brilliant world-enlightening response.

I had a different reaction, however. Mine was "it's probably for the better - the mods saved me from myself"

I missed the boat too. No matter, the thread will be back again, and again...

It happened to me yesterday as well. I laughed out loud.

I think the lesson we can draw from this frightful disregard for one's intellectual and literary dignity is to be concise. If it takes you half an hour to write, there's a fair likelihood that no one is going to read it anyway!

Dude, Shakespeare didn't write "MacBeth" on the back of an envelope.

He didn't use words like "dude," either!

"Sirrah" has so much more panache, I find ...

But he did write "Brevity is the soul of wit."

Always disagreed with that. The soul of wit is obviously the "pull my finger" joke.

as great as his writings are old Bill never took his own advice.

I know I ramble on. I try to precis my ramblings...and then an interesting open mic thread gets closed.
