Cindy Cashdollar plays a pretty mean slide guitar.

Since the definition has been widened to include bassists, Rhonda Smith and Esperanza Spalding are both wonderful musicians and Jen Batten has been a great payer for a looong time.

Glad someone mentioned Tracy Chapman, she's a seriously good guitarist who often gets overlooked.

Great choices all that have been mentioned, so trying no to repeat,
I don't think Jamie Stillway has been mentioned.

Had the chance to see her play up close at the Fretboard Journal summit this past October.

If you like Ana, check out Tatyana Ryzhkova. I think her expressiveness and tone are even better than Ana's.

My two favorites remain Memphis Minnie and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

And I would be remiss if I did not include the Epiphone Senorita

I am a big fan of Patty Larkin and Nina Gerber who have already been mentioned and love the guitar work of Janis Ian and Emily Saliers. Another couple of singer songwriters who play good solid guitar accompaniments are Cheryl Wheeler and Cosy Sheridan. Mimi Fox is a great jazz guitarist. And let's give another mention to Sister Rosette Tharpe.

Best,
Jayne
