Default NGD - Taylor K-22ce 12 Fret

My Taylor K-22ce 12 fret arrived yesterday afternoon and after spending the evening with it, it will be a keeper. I was looking for a guitar that would be my 2013 522e 12 fret (all hog) "on steroids". I knew the bottom end of this guitar would be thin since Koa needs time to play in but I was very pleased by what I would call the fuller and more crystalline high end which is what I was hoping for. If I strum the 522e now, it does have a fuller presence and more low end thump than the K-22 but I am confident that is going to change with some playing time. For the solo fingerstyle arrangements I like to play, I think the K-22 will offer what I was looking for. The 522e will probably be in the AGF classifieds in the near future. It's a fabulous guitar especially if you are into acoustic blues fingerstyle.

Pics below and excuse my laziness using the Sweetwater pictures but they are probably better than I could take. The guitar looks a lot better in person, it has a depth about it which seems a common compliment of Koa. One funny thing is in Taylor's marketing about this guitar, they call it out as being an "organic" playing experience which I thought was kind of hokey but with the maple/rosewood accents on the body and neck bindings and vine inlay on the fretboard, it does have a special warm (dare I say organic) mood it puts you in.

Shout out to my sales engineer at Sweetwater Ian Angle who assisted me and gave me a worry free buying experience including Sweetwater covering return shipping if I did not bond with the guitar. They are a great company.

Congrats. A koa guitar will have more shimmer or crystalline tones than mahogany. The low end will bloom over time. Now it's up to you to put the first 1,000 playing hours on it to encourage that process. Tough duty!

Yeah, well my sales engineer is Matt and he can kick your sales engineer's ***. Congrats on the guitar. I just ordered the 322e 12 fret and can't wait. Will my GAS never end?

I've always though the newer Taylor Koa's are some of the most beautiful guitars. I have the older natural Koa which is nice but I think the newer ones are even better.

Very nice, Bob! Congrats and enjoy. I love the shading on the back. 12-frets are cool.

Great looking guitar, enjoy it, but you lose presentation points for using vendor photos, lol.

Beautiful! I knew the koa was exactly what you wanted. Enjoy! The Taylor K series, with its all wood appointments, is superb.

The mids and highs on this guitar are addicting, looking forward to it playing in a bit to bring the low end out more. It's kind of thin flatpicking and strumming right now but could be the sweetest of the bunch I have for fingerstyle.
