Default "Regard sur mer" and "Loulou contre la montre" -- my latest originals

Work has been really busy and I haven't had much time to play -- but in the last month I still managed to write two new instrumentals.

Unlike my "Whispering Echoes" suite which features less elaborate pieces, for "Regard sur mer" and "Loulou contre la montre" I actually carefully wrote every phrase.

For me, writing a piece of music is an incremental process and I'm usually happier when I can afford to be patient.

"Regard sur mer" was recorded with my Olson SJ BRW and the tuning is DGDF#AD. When I wrote that piece I had no title in mind -- but as I listened to my test recordings I could imagine myself standing by the sea (hence the tile which is French of "Staring At The Sea").

"Loulou contre la montre" was composed on my Tree SJ and the tuning on that guitar is EBD#F#BD#. The title isn't particularly meaningful but as the piece becomes more intense it made me think of someone who's on the run (the title is French for "Louise Against The Clock").

Both of these recordings are rather obscure and introspective originals -- so thank you for taking the time to listen to my latest efforts.

Enjoyed them both very much, Mau. Love the melody in the second piece. Just great stuff!

Mau,

Once again, lovely, beautiful recordings! I love the sound you get from those Olsons and from your fingertips and from that inventive mind of yours. Wonderful compositions, carefully thought out and beautifully melodic. I enjoyed them both!

Beautiful compositions and playing Mau! Your music always seems to come from the heart. I think that's what makes it so special.

Thank you, Bob. The second piece is still very fresh in my mind as I just finished writing it yesterday. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for your kind support, Glenn.

My Olson guitars are such important sources of inspiration to me. Their unique tone and sustain seem perfect for the music that I have in my head.

I have other guitars which I really like but for some reason I always come back to my SJs.

Thanks so much, Curt. As a listener, I've always preferred the slightly sentimental and more melodic pieces -- so that's the music that I come up with.

I'm into all kinds of music, from country to rap and operas, but when it comes to fingerstyle guitar this is the music that I feel like playing.

Thank you for your supportive words.

I'd rather not work at all for sure but playing guitar hasn't yet paid for those Olsons...

Thanks JR.

I definitely have enough material and I'd really love to put together an album with recordings mastered by someone truly qualified. The biggest issue is time as I forgot how to play most of these tunes (in some cases I even forgot the tuning) and would have to rehearse extensively. But I definitely want to do it.
