Default Amazing Rhythm Aces - King of the Cowboys

Guitar friends -

Looking for words and chords for this great song. Yes I am trying to do it all myself - have made some progress but now need a realiable check point.

Why is it that no-one seems to have the "correct" third verse for this great song? The first two to three lines are just confounding me, can't make them out on the only decent (Youtube) version of this song.

Thanks in advance.

I used to watch you
When I was little
The games I played
I learned from you
I kept dreaming
You kept playing
When I woke you were 62

Say goodbye to the
King of the Cowboys
First and last of a
Dying breed
Say goodbye to the
King of the Cowboys
Chained to a life
He doesn't lead

You told the truth
You were always ready
Whether with your gun
Or with your hand
It was lies
But I never knew it
You taught me how to
Act like a man

Say goodbye to the
King of the Cowboys
First and last of a
Dying breed
Say goodbye to the
King of the Cowboys
Chained to a life
He doesn't lead

Say goodbye to the
King of the Cowboys
First and last of a
Dying breed
Say goodbye to the
King of the Cowboys
Chained to a life
He doesn't lead

Wild Bill,

Thanks. Appreciate it. There is a youtube video that has a third verse that goes like this ...

And you ....?? ..... ??
.... and the things we say, the things we do
Early this morning I woke up cryin'
Cryin' for me, prayin' for you

Cause' now I know I wanna be like you where
Just as long as I got the strength to stand
Don't stop tryin' don't stop fightin'
You taught me how to act like a man

Final chorus

I can't seem to get the first two lines before "Early this morning". Any ideas?

"You lost your health..."
"And we lost our courage..."

Sounded like, to me anyway.
Great band.

MDog,

Thanks for replying. For some reason I am "into" these older country / rock songs these days. Having some fun with Amie, from the Pure Prairie League.

Chords are easy (and well published) - intro flat picking bit I got down too but needs speed. These are just fun to sing.

Still not sure I have the chords to this one right yet, but will work away on it.

MDog, I just notice this is your FIRST post!! Welcome, I am honored.

P.S. You got me on the right track. Second line is bang on. First line is "You lost your love" or "luck". It's L-something I think.
