So much choice, it's hard. I jumped in this direction recently. In that price bracket. Crafter GA7/N. Just to confuse you further.

I second the notion of buying used, I just bought this for a half a grand...Tacoma DR-38. Of course you don't see these deals everyday but if you have the time to search it can pay off. I also play on a praise team at church and good electronics are a must, you can always install an inexpensive passive pick-up in any guitar but the Fishman/ L.R Baggs packages are hard to beat. Remember that the journey is half the fun!

PM me if I can help

Cool

I really appreciate all of you that have responded. A lot to dig in to.
I am really wanting to play a Larrivee now!
You know, the only reason Im thinking of another one is the capability of plugging in. Maybe I could just use mine until I figure it out
So whats the deal with just installing one in my art and lutherie for now?
I guess playing with audience just gave me an excuse to get another guitar!
I like this one, and will never get rid of it. I seems to have a bright crisp sound, with not alot of bass and deep tone.
The music our church plays is contemporary, upbeat, a lot of open bar chords and power chords with fast strumming. Pretty basic stuff.
I like country, twangy, blues stuff. Maybe some nice sounds for the wife too I guess thats why some of these other guitars sounded so good. Plus, mine is a pretty plain guitar, not very pretty.
I can get my "baby" a little later in life, just wanting practical use for the church.
But of course I want to sound good!
We try to fill it up, drums, piano, 2 keyboard players, bass, acoustic, and electric. With a couple lead singers and choir.
They also like to plug in with earphones, i guess to hear our instruments better?
We're short on guitar players though, so sometimes we may not even have a bass and electric up there. Thats why Im jumpin in to help out. Im also wondering if a deeper tone sound may be better if there's no bass.
Just a little info for my guitar's use.
Now suggestions on using mine? Someone gave me an old Dean slide-in pick up Im going to try out.
Whats up with installing one?
Thanks to all of you!!

Used Blueridge, Eastman, Epiphone in that price range. You will get very good craftsmanship and all solid woods and lots of choices in body size/style.

If you're careful about choosing one, an Ovation is a pretty good way to go if you're deadset on a "new" guitar. The tone definately isn't for everybody, but they certainly have their followers and have been made to sound absolutely beautiful in the right set of hands.

Installing a pickup in your current A&L is definitely an option. I don't have any experience with them & can't recommend one, but I'm sure someone else here can help you out. Good luck!

You have a good guitar~ Maybe just stick a pick up in there?

That said, I think the Recording King RD-06CE is also a very, very good value guitar. I'm not sure how much it costs in the States, but I got mine in China for around $300 USD. It comes with a B-Band UST, not really sure on the details
I use it in this recording-
