Default I Made A New Album, And It’s Bluegrass!

Many of my AGF friends know that I’ve been a closeted flatpicker for almost twenty years now. And some also know that I made this recording a while back.. Well, I finally finished it! I’m clearly not the next Tony Rice or David Grier, that’s for sure. But I have loved and deeply respected this music for a long time now, and I’m very excited to have produced a record -featuring my good friend Tim Connell- that I think is pretty cool. Like me, Tim did not grow up playing this music. He’s nationally known for his Brazilian Choro style playing, and has a degree in Irish music from the New England Conservatory Of Music... But somehow I was able to talk him into this project

Right now it’s available as physical disks and downloads only on CD Baby at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/timconnell In a few weeks it’ll be at all your favorite places to find music. Tim and I are both full time musicians with families, and we are exceedingly grateful to anyone that might be looking for something new to add to their music collection, and maybe tell their friends about.

love,e

Eric, if this is recorded even half as well as "Slow Moving Dog," it will be fantastic, for sure. I think I recall telling you when SMD came out that you should have sent review copies out to the audiophile press (Stereophile, The Absolute Sound, Tone Audio, etc.).

Lest I sound like all I care about is great audio, I'll add that I have no doubts about the musicianship and playing. I'm headed to CD Baby now.

Thanks man!
Since you mentioned audio I might as well knock this out:
We recorded this live to 2 inch tape in an old barn that was converted into a studio. We are separated by a glass wall, but again it was all live, and almost entirely all in one day. We each had an early 70s Neumann U87 pointed at our bridges. And a Neumann KM84 pointed at our fretboards. I used the prototype for my signature model Santa Cruz 00 with mediums on it. Tim used a mandolin made by Paul Lestock here in Oregon.

Eric, I was actually thinking about this the other day! I remember you mentioning this some time back, but couldn't remember a target date! Can't wait to hear it!

I'm sorry. I associate my friend Eric Skye with great jazz interpretations for acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Bluegrass is a whole nuther animal! So who are you, and what have you down with Eric?! Just kidding. I'm looking forward to hearing how you work those min7b5 chords into Fisher's Hornpipe and Angeline the Baker! Oh, and shouldn't that be "Half-Demented Records?"

Audited and purchased. Sounds like real human beings playing fiddle tunes. Nice. 🙂

It just arrived in yesterday's mail, Eric, and I'm listening to it now. It's great - every bit the equal of the Rice/Grisman "Tone Poems" project.

this is excellent, I've become smitten with the mandolin over the past year+ and the arrangements on this CD are very very nice.

Just downloaded, Eric. Great stuff!

I currently play 8 of the 12 tunes, so looking forward to reimagining those 8 and tackling the remaining 4.

Thanks!
