Your question is to specific. Can you make it a little more generalized?

How it can move people and bring out the many different emotions we have inside. I love the joy, peace, and the excitement it brings to me. Now there are some styles/genres that I will stay away from because it does not give me that peace, tranquility, etc.

Improvisation...chords extended beyond the 7th...chromaticism...dissonance, when used wisely...groove...drums, drums, drums...

I love music that's challenging enough to play that the act of playing it requires full mind imvolvement...listening, hearing, leading, following...full immersion. That's when I truly love music.

The rest of the time, though, I still like it a whole dang lot.

Music Theory

Genres as languages
Words written by subatomic sound waves
Vibrating off a well braced shimmering solid wood top
Escaping though a perfect symmetrical hole
But not before
Vibrations of resonance
Satisfy the body it's resting on
At the same time
Traveling invisible
Though the air
To the the ears
Of those nearby who will tune in
And fewer will understand
But for the few
The impulses submerge though the blood and bone
To the mind and soul
And set the fire burning
Like nothing else can
So what is music?
It's a tool from the gods
An addiction of the heart
It consumes generations
With rebel songs
Written by bedroom warriors
Who can't put down a guitar
At 4 AM in their underwear
It documents time
Better than a photograph can
it heals the heart
Blood stains on airwaves
That we see with our ears
Its a five minute dance tune
Played at the local club
Remixed in the ghetto
By a janitors son
Who's found his way out
With knobs and faders
It's a classical tune
Played for free
In the London tunnels
By the great Einaudi
Smiling at the elite as he gives it away for free
Its love
Its hope
Its dreams
Vibrating frequencies
Only the soul can read

I love the shared aspect of it. It brings people together.

From "Hey you love _____? I love _____! Let's listen to ______ together"

To "I'll lay down a few chords and you can play a nice melody"

Whether you're dancing together, playing together, or just listening together music is a good way to connect with one another.

It gives me something to do with my guitar, otherwise, I don't know what else I could use it for. Birdhouse maybe? ......Mike
