Default Takamine CT4B Preamp Problem

I have a Takamine EAN45c and I am having problems with the Preamp/pickup. when I plugged the guitar into two different acoustic rigs, I got the same results: metallic attack buzz on all strings. It sounds like the strings are hitting frets on attack, but it happens with open as well as fretted notes. Open notes are clearly off the frets. I checked the battery and even though it tested good, I changed it to no avail.

I also put my finger on the saddle just behind the fulcrum point on each string and no change. When I mute the string with slight finger pressure in front of the saddle, the string buzz disappeared but so did all of the highs. I tried different volume levels and different EQ settings, even turning the highs all the way down to no avail.

Any suggestions ? Thanks.

Some ideas... Try cleaning the battery contacts, because it sounds like it could be distortion which a low battery, or voltage drop across oxidized contacts, might cause. Next take a cell phone and take some pictures of the pickup inside the guitar. I recall that Tak uses large crystals pressed up against the underside of the bridge plate (maybe they go thru to the saddle???). Maybe it is loose. Generally the electronics and the piezo elements are very reliable and I would be thinking oxidation of contacts somewhere in the system (is it plugged together, if so, remove and replace the jacks a few times) or something mechanical.
