I'd love to listen to the song you posted, but for some reason I absolutely cannot open it.

Two thoughts - your guitar styling varies from fingerstyle to plectrum style (possibly best rhythm style for this) and strumming.

You made all the high notes OK, but it sounded difficult - obviously very high for you - why not transpose down or sing in a lower octave.

Remember that the guitar work is the secondary aspect of a song - the vocals are the priority.

Good luck, work on it some more show us again.
Okay, here it is: played this a lot since it first came out of the box.
My tempo and rhythm could use some work, I hear that. Vocals I stayed in D; I am happy with it there for now. It's much stronger now that I really know the song. Someday I might transpose it all to C but that's a whole bunch of new chord forms I don't feel like bothering with at the mo.

enjoy.

Nice. I would like to see your right hand in action.

That you have practised this a lot since the first posting shows in both the guitar and voice. Very nice! D seems to work fine...

I'm just an old hack of a player, but you might want to work in a little palm mute with that piece.

I know what that means in the literal sense, but, I haven't much of an idea about putting into play.

Did it seem like that wanted to be muted all through the piece, or at particular points that you could point me to?

I'll go hunt youtube for some how to-s on the palm mute tactic.

thanks for the feedback!

There seemed to be some notes that rang out forever and made the song sound too busy. Nice playing though otherwise.

TBman , this feedback is going to change my life.

Seriously ! I watched a few videos today, grokked the concept and just now had a come to nirvana moment with the guitar.

It's like an anti-sustain pedal!

And it is going to be a pain in the you know what to adjust my hands and wrist position. I have been 30 years flailing away like I do...a bunch of muscle memory....ah well I was bored and needed some inspiration, so off I go.

When I succeed with a worthy demo I will start a new thread.

Thanks again for the constructive feedback.

Glad I could help Amy!

It's not all that hard to learn, but it does take some adjustment and mastering it still eludes me, but I enjoy the style even though I mess it up at times.

I think Don Alder is the only player I know who can make music sound good with that kind of right hand position. Maybe you look his playing and try to adopt the palm muting from him.
