Default "Only Autumn" original

Hey all, here's an original tune of mine, hope you enjoy it.

Backstory:
About three years ago I moved into my first apartment. It was right before summer and I was rarely home as my gigging schedule was normally Tuesday-Sunday on the road. I didn't get a lot of free time until the fall.
I hadn't spoken with my father for years following my parents divorce and the transition into real adulthood (cause lets face it, nowadays you aren't considered an adult until you have your act together, not just turning 18) was starting to feel like a real thing.
The day I had written this my mother and father had been on my mind quite a bit and at some point it had started raining outside. I'd only had the guitar in this video for a few weeks and was still warming up to it (it's a Wildwood custom Larrivee LS-09 w/ Italian Alpine and EIR) and I decided to open my door and let some air in and enjoy the rain. I sat on my ottoman by the door and the intro slowly came together and not long after, the lyrics. The is one of the tunes I'm
most proud of as a songwriter, as I know it didn't come from anywhere but me sitting down deep in thought about my loved ones and where I stood in life.
I welcome fall every year but lately looking back at this song makes me a little happier seeing the seasons change.

If you enjoyed this tune you can find it on iTunes or order a cd from my website, www.dustinfurlow.com
The actual album version has the audio from this session + grand piano accents throughout. Thanks for listening
DF

+1 Dustin! Great guitar work, lyrics and melody...special piece. I share the thoughts/feelings about Autumn...this time of year leads to some creative stuff for me as it's a time of reflection and peace after a busy summer season.
Thanks for sharing, great job!

Very, very nice, Dustin!

I totally enjoyed that -- your playing, your singing, your writing -- very well done!

Very sweet instrumental interlude in there, too!

Wonderful!

Thanks guys, I def miss that Larrivee. Had a "tight" sound to it cause it was fairly new, however for fingerpicking and capo'd tunes it really excelled, like in this tune. Glad you all enjoyed it!!

Very, very fine work there Dustin. You brought out the 'feel' of your thoughts perfectly. The guy on the harp guitar does a great job as well.

I second that. Nice melodies and beautiful singing.

Your comment reminds me of Joe Cocker's "The Fall" - "it's all in the fall, that's when you find out what you're all about".

Wow. Always wondered how often folks who have big record contacts are on AGF. If you don't have one, you should. I know this is a commercial reaction to a heartfelt song, but I couldn't help thinking, when does Dustin's tour bring him to the Bay Area. Need to hit your site to learn more. Emotional, compelling, and the guitar work was both simple yet complex at the right times without distracting from the overall piece. Did I say 'Wow!'?

That's a superb tune. As a doofus who enjoys writing his own songs I'm drawn to originals with vocals. Thanks for posting the back story. I'm ALWAYS interested in the stories and emotions that go in to an original piece. (Would love to read the lyrics as I listen again). What I realized about this piece is that the melody itself is strong enough to stand alone as an instrumental. If you played that piece without vocals as an instrumental and just said here's Only Autumn, I'd have felt similar emotion. That's a WELL written tune. Well done sir!
