Default Easy Neil Young or Cat Stevens

Hi

As an older (early 60's) player I am returning to my attempts to play the guitar. Rather than solo acoustic fingerstyle which was my focus before I stopped, I am now looking for a style and kind of music that I can still enjoy but might be a bit more achievable for my limited skills.

Thus I am looking for song suggestions for easy arrangements of songs from either of my two favorite performers, Neil Young and Cat Stevens.

Can you knowledgeable folks provide some suggestions?

Thanks

Pat

Neil's Helpless is one of the easiest songs there is.

And you thought right! Big Cat Stevens fan myself.. Moonshadow, Sad Lisa, Wild World, Peace Train and The Wind are all relatively straightforward songs to play. Neil Young's Needle and The Damage Done, Ohio, Old Man, and Hey, Hey, My, My will probably suffice as well. I'm a few years behind you.. but closing in quickly.

I am right in you age bracket and Neil Young has been a favorite since After the Gold Rush which is easy to play along with Needlle and the Damage Done . A good tab for Needle and Damage Done is in Country Tabs sister site Rock Tabs. I looked at and for tabs for a long time every place I could find and that is about the best complete tab I found..on You Tube you can find a few lessons for Moon Shadow that work out good to. ...cibby

I have a free lesson of Father and Son which is pretty easy except for the barre chord Bm. But if you fancy a go...

I'm currently learning Where do the Children play by Cat Stevens. It's quite easy to play once you realise how the D and G chords are played. There are a few YouTube vids showing the method and the Em To A progression in the chorus sounds very nice indeed.

Harvest Moon- Neil Young

Here is a random lesson I found on youtube. I can't tell you if it's any good because my wifi is too slow to stream videos right now. From the comments it seems it might be worth looking at. Cheers.
