Hi eyesore...

Any time of day/night is fine with me.

I play best when not rushed, or pressured, and when relaxed.

My sharpness (or lack of it) is challenged when I'm overly tired, or under-the-gun.

I play my best in front of a crowd of people - I just draw a lot of energy from the crowd. I sing best when I'm warmed up and haven't eaten any dairy products, chocolate, nuts or raw carrots. The dairy products and chocolate coat the throat and create phlegm, while bits of chewed-up nuts and raw carrots can come back up as shrapnel when you're trying to sing.

So for me I play and sing the best in the evening. When I was making my living singing in bars I wouldn't eat my evening meal or have a beer to drink until after I've finished my last set.

I also sing and play on Sunday mornings in church, and it took me quite a while to get used to that - a couple of years, at least.

When I'm in the mood to play. Simple as that.

I realized years ago I'm never going to be a rock star. I don't drink or smoke and I go to bed at a reasonable time and I play at my best in the morning too.

When I am not too distracted and am in a decent mood. I started playing to relax from different stresses in life, so my optimal time is rare

I get in the pocket when my brain is shut off and there is no thinking going on at all.

I really don't think I have a best time. It could be 8:00am on a Saturday morning or 8:00pm on a Friday night. For me, the best time is when I'm in the mood which could be at any time.

today should have been perfect. 10 hours of sleep. 2 cups of coffee and a couple candy bars. Brand new strings on the guitar. Plenty of new songs to try out. It was a swing and miss though, but it should have been a guaranteed recipe for success. I think I may be slightly ill though and also recovering from a hand injury.

Same here.

Only this year I discovered that dairy products don't help my cough.
Also I don't like to eat before a gig - after ? ravenous!

I usually load up on water before a gig - and pop a Vocalzone.

I've only been playing again for about 8 months after a 30+ year layoff...so I'm still mucho inconsistent. But I always start the day playing for about an hour and a half...and those morning sessions are always best. Amazing how much I can stink by afternoon

I play best with others. Working with other good players just brings out the best in me.
