I think my "thing" is all-mahogany guitars (or mahogany-sapelle). My first guitar, a Gibson LGO, was all-mahogany and my favorite guitars right now are my Taylor 528e, 322 and GS Mini-M. My sister's 324 is also a super guitar.

I just love the tone.

Guitars that can take low action and work well in dropped, open and other alt. tunings. I find that many lose their luster when they are taken too far out of 440. I gotta have 1 3/4 nut with decent spacing at the saddle to to along with it. Looks don't matter that much. I hate pick guards. I'm taking the one off my SWD because I'm keeping that guitar, but leaving the one on my J-45 because I'm not sure yet if I'm keeping it.

I'm drawn to jumbo bodied guitars. The warm thump against your chest is all in your hands. There's a depth that small body guitars just can't match.

Short scale, narrow nut, thin neck profile, almost always with a cutaway. That's the "thing" that has evolved over the last 4-5 years for me.

I bought one of those Dirty Thirties 0 size last year because I was in a guitarless situation and Amazon would get it to me in 2 days. I liked the size so much I bought another better Recording King 0, which turned out to be BIGGER somewhat..oh well, I still like it.

Anyway, THAT is my thing now: SMALL. Oh, and pretty darn FLAT fingerboards.

Hey All,

I think I'm in the 12 fret slot 1.75 in at nut camp too. Spruce over ?. I really like small 000 and 00 but would love to try a 12 fret slot 0000 with or without a cut away. I'd also love trying a 12 fret slot 000 with a cut. I think Martin makes or made one but I've never heard of a 12 fret slot 0000 with or without.

My thing is traditional folk/roots/americana/county shapes, tones, and woods with a strong preference for fundamental tones and mahogany. I love smaller bodies, om's specifically, and simple ornamentation. If I am seeking something jangly, I'll play mando or banjo. I like my guitar to fill out the middle and bottom, and give high marks for playing rhythm.

Smaller to medium bodies with contemporary aesthetics and Florentine cutaway.

Smaller bodied older/vintage guitars. Their size is so comfortable to play, and their age provides a tone with a unique richness--a soulfulness if you will--that IMO, simply doesn't exist on newer/modern guitars...regardless of how traditionally built they are. Not a sound for everyone maybe, but definitely my "thing".
