A lot of these recomendations are old stuff. Check out Turin Brakes. They are a UK band that hasn't gotten any recognition in the states. Their "Optimist LP" is great. Their "Ether Song" album is also very good.
Some others to check out are: David Gray, Damien Rice, The Decemberists. An oldie but amazing is Nick Drake. |

Howard,
The CD at Amazon is a dual LP CD. "Paradise Bar & Grill" was quite a bit different than their self titled "Mad River" LP. But yeah... They were all over the place musically. Total acid rock to a lovely acoustic backing for Richard Brautigan reading a poem... Ah! Those were the days, my friend! LOL! Happy Holidaze! Dave |

Can't believe no one mentioned Eric Clapton's Unplugged (1992). It simply doesn't get better that that.
Also, Tesla's "Five Man Acoustical Jam (1990)" is pretty good. Heart's "The Road Home" (Unplugged)

Gordon Lightfoot..Sundowm Album.....you'll get 12 string strumming and 6 string fingerpicking...all easy 3 to 4 chord changes...The Sundown album and the single were both #1 on the billboard chart at the same time, a rare acomplishment for any artist. c1974...There is also a recent CD titled All Wood & Stones..I can't recall the 2 artists but they Acoustically cover a variety of Rolling Stones tunes, like you have never heard them before...It gave me an eye opener as to the tallent of Mick & Keith as songsmiths,,Enjoy

I can't believe he's only been mentioned once, but a dude named Bob Dylan made some pretty good acoustic albums.
Indeed, someone would be hard pressed to convince me that there's a better album than Blood on the Tracks. Even if you think you don't like Dylan, if you're not deeply familiar with this record, please go get it now.
