Hey Holland, thanks so much. My version is mostly the Steve Goodman version, although I prefer Michael Smith's more. That Eastman sounds pretty good. They make a great guitar.

Thanks again. Goodman and Jesse are two writers to which I've dedicated myself, to keep their music alive. Never grown tired Of "City of New Orleans."

be well,

That was part of a wonderful episode of an equally wonderful series, Spectacle, hosted by Elvis Costello and executive produced by Elton John. I was lucky enough to buy the episodes of this short-lived series on DVD a few years ago. I need to go back and rewatch that episode. Great stuff.

I had the awesome pleasure of hearing him when he opened for Logins and Messina who were very big at the time. He completely stole the show. There was nothing Loggins nor Messina could do to equal that of Jesse.

Yes, he had that quiet power about him, a distillation of intellect and sensitivity. And Kenny Loggins is no slouch as a songwriter.

I always equated a Jesse show with a world-class poet who added music.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'll bump this one back up because Jesse's music needs to be heard by more people. There is a cleansing, purity to his songs. He could wrap a phrase within a melody, with a depth of meaning that sheer genius.

You nail it on the head, Jackal. I'm doing a show in a couple weeks and working up "My Songbird," as covered by Emmy Lou. Wow, what a gem.

Thanks for the bump,
scott

Just love Jesse so much. Anyone else want to add anything here? What a writer.

Thanks,
Scott

I'm such a shameless Jesse fan. Hope it's okay if I give this one a little bump. Such an amazing writer and performer.

Be Well, Friends,

My pleasure. My I ask which ones you play, or which are your faves. I added "I Wave Bye Bye" to my show a few years ago, but in jams I also love stuff like "A Showman's Life." Hope to learn "Shing-a-Ling" one of these days.

Nice to hear from you.

Thank you so much for posting this. That is just breathtakingly beautiful, I have listened to that song 50 times already.

I don't think I have ever even heard of Jesse before, not a household name over here. So again, thanks! [emoji1303]

4-string, my pleasure. The only thing better than Jesse's songs was seeing him in performance. Quite a talent all the way around. Here in the States he is known as a songwriter's songwriter. His tunes have been covered by a lot of major artists.

Appreciate your post,
scott memmer
