Agree on all counts. After a long search I settled on a GS 7 (cedar/rosewood) that I'm quite happy with.

Having recently played a 514, however, I would have to agree with Woodruff- it is just a fantastic instrument- the "best" sounding Taylor I have played yet.

You could spend a lifetime looking for the "best" Taylor- in fact, I believe that would be one definition of GAS.

Enjoy your 110- you have an awesome guitar right there.
Hey Beachbum, how do you like your Epi? I own a DR500M and love the thing dearly. It was my first guitar so its a little special to me, but to be honest for the price tag, the Masterbilt line blows away alot of the competition.

From the Dan Crary Signature Model to the 914ce, my personal preference is for the 800 series instruments. They give you great quality and sound for the price. That is why my only guitar right now is a 812ce with redwood top.

x2 on the 800 series...best bang for the buck.
If you like dreads, get a x10
If you like GC's, get a x12
If you like GA's, get a x14/x54
If you like GS's, get a x16/x56
If you like jumbo's, get a x15/x55
You know the drill...Taylor can't make a lousy guitar.

In answer to Jeff M's post, I've owned about 40 Taylors since 1998, liked a lot of them, loved a few, but miss none of them... but I do miss my Goodall!

The last two times I walked into the store to buy an 814; these "custom shop" Taylors followed me home.

I'm thinking my future 814 is going to have to be a mail order job

Absolutely LOVE my PSGAce. Not even so much for the fact it's a PS... just love the Engelmann over Rosewood combo. The sound, the look, the versatility... great all around-er.

Honestly, I'm amazed at the sound that comes out of this guitar pretty much every time I play it. A different sound from Taylor, but very nice- warm, rich, and very loud. Incredible bang for the buck.

I've had about 10-12 Taylors over the years. I've sold most of them to purchase new ones. I now have a custom BTO GS cutaway. Sitka/Rosewood with all of the trimmings. This is the only way to go. I've had Martins, played Gibsons, and nothing beats Taylor.

Best regards,

Steve

Fritz
Picked one up Tuesday at Bestbuy scratch and dent sale a good savings with a couple pick marks. I thought it was great but Wednesday I had some time went to GC and played the one that was there.

Whoops my action was really jacked just under 1/4 at 12 th fret. Called the factory, a real person without hassles, prompts, and all the irritants of life today. They told me take my Guitar to Elderly instruments which is 25 miles away. THey also said that they are not shipping adjustment tools anymore. They prefer to have a service center work on it.

I've out the the area about 30 years (Military Career) so in my mind Elderly was still in East Lansing. Got to Elderly super guys took the truss rod cover off turned it say it needs a neck reset and setup warranty repair. What a relief as I get more GAS Elderly will get my business.
From what I've heard they are the best in the midwest. I guess I shouldn't worried I hear they are pretty good.

All I can say is WOW!!! I have a old /jasmine tak and had returned a Ovation celebrity NEW with the nut not even secured. 1 week old.

Glad to be a taylor owner and expect a long happy life on the forums. And Elderly is my new store

I'd think x14 series would be the best Taylor.

And from a '97 810 owner's perspective, I'd also think that the older pre-revoiced, pre NT-neck mid 90s Taylors are the best.

Another vote for a GS model. It's the Taylor I go to more than any other...
There's usually one in the AGF classifieds.

I played one today and I have to agree. The 816ce with the CV bracing is awesome.
