Beautiful guitar and a great story! You are very fortunate and I am somewhat envious. Enjoy your treasure and thanks for sharing.

I've never had the opportunity to play one of Jim's guitars. Just as well because I doubt I could afford one!

HATS OFF to a GREAT luthier who has been at the top of his profession for many years!

It's great he is still producing guitars at his age.

There are other small builders here in the Twin Cities area who don't have the big names buying their guitars.

IMO they make just about as good a product.
Jim is such a humble guy I'm sure he would agree with you. He readily admits he was in the right place at the right time with James Taylor, and it was the best advertising he could have ever had.

I really like that his process puts out the amazing consistency he gets with all his guitars.

Thanks for all the nice remarks, I am truly blessed to own these great guitars.

When I die, just don't let my wife sell my guitars for what I told her they cost.

digman52,

I believe I ran into you and your friend last week at the Minneapolis airport.

I overheard “Olson” guitars and butted right in!

What a great story.

Wow -- great story, and it sounds like a great experience, especially meeting and hanging out with Mr Olson.

I've only ever played one of his guitars, owned by Brian Doerksen -- a beautiful instrument.

Enjoy!

Default Olson

Congratulations on your beautiful new 6 string Olson. I bet it sounds as good as it looks. Glad you had the chance to meet up with Jim and spend the day together. Enjoy it in good health!

The new guitar has motivated me to play more 6 string, and get cleaner with my sound.

I must admit that it is kicking my 12 string callouses right now. I know that will diminish with more playing.

If you want a new Olson, I would do it sooner rather than later. I see him reducing the number of guitars he builds as he enjoys his time in the desert away from the shop.

So I have to ask Digman, any chance you are doing any local Demos? Sure is a beaut and I'll bet it has the tone to match. Congrats

Beautiful guitar. I think you might have been referring to my build thread regarding the Olson class of 2017. I received my SJ about 3 weeks ago and just love it! I was very happy to get on Jim's list as I agree, he isn't building many guitars these days. He was a pleasure to work with as well.

Wow, that is beyond beautiful. Am I understanding correctly, there was one 40th anniversary guitar and you got it, or did he do a series of them????
