Default Fun with an old John Renbourn tuning.

Been loving this tuning, DGDGCD since I got it off the back of "The Lady & the Unicorn" in high school. Wrote this tune in it (capo4), off my instrumental CD. This is live at the farmer's market in Westcliffe, Colorado this summer.

Lovely.

Watching more of your videos, that's some serious talent you've got going on there.

I don't like G tunings but use this one a lot both for songs and instrumentals. My tune 'Breakfast with John' is named after him and recorded in this tuning. I named it after he listened to it at a guitar weekend. Sadly he died that day after he left us to drive back home.

I really enjoyed that Andy, I'm sure he did as well. I too am pretty burnt out on say, open G ( after writing almost my entire 1st album in it, 20-odd years back) but the 1/2 step up in this one still works for me. I usually intro this tune, live, with "Trotto", which I'm sure you're familiar with-Thanks!

I like G turnings and Martin Simpson makes use of both Gsus4 and Gsus4/4 tunings quite enjoyably.
Thanks for posting this.

Best,
Jayne

Nice tune - I'll have to check out that tuning. You're getting a really good guitar tone through your live setup there.

Nice! Enjoyed the overall tune, the percussion and harmonics (and watching the shadow on you foot as it kept time. OK, I get a bit distracted . . .). Great technique and tune.

Thanks for noticing the tone, the guitar has the 1st generation Taylor ES pickup, with a slightly electric/magnetic presence, so I mixed it with an SM57 mike for some natural, woody quality at this gig and liked it- plus it gave me 2 channels, more output with the bi-amped Fishman Artist.

Nice job Drew! It does sound quite good live. I found myself that using a simple SM57 along with the pickup sound really helps a great deal in making the amplified sound much more natural.
