Default HELP Grounding issue / Hum solutions

I live in an old house (1930's), has original wiring that is not grounded - in other words all the power outlets are 'two-prong'.

With most my Acoustics its never an issue, but I one thats giving me fits. Unfortunately its one I really need right now for a recording project.

Its a Taylor GS Mini Bass. When I touch the input jack, all the hum is dead quiet, so I know it needs a grounding wire (Taylor makes a nice universal grounding kit with a fuse, the Normal grounding plate for the bridge plate wont work, because its a four string bass!) Its an active system that runs on two alarm clock batteries.

So my questions are:

1) If I have one wire attached to the input jack, what do I attach the other end to? I suppose I could rig something that rests on the ball ends of the strings?

2) Is there a DI box that will fix the problem?

I'm literally having to wrap a grounding wire around my arm to the input jack until I get this fixed. I can't replace the wiring in my house obviously so I need a different fix!

Thanks

I can answer the second question pretty easily: Most DIs have a ground lift for exactly this purpose.
