Default Collings SJ Mahogany/Spruce Cutaway

I am specifically looking for a Collings SJ - mahogany back and sides - spruce top (German would be nice but not required) - must have a cutaway.

If you have one for sale please let me know.

Thanks
Rob

What is with this flavor of the month ? Gee Rob, there are sort of laws of the universe, you know...guitar rules 101? If you're looking to obtain an SJ, it is Required that you put a fine figured set of maple for its back and sides (Quilted or Flamed of course) and we do not leave it naked.... a sunburst is a prerequisite.... I Can look the other way on the cutaway they do look nice... but Hog ? sigh... thats uhh So 90's.....
Good luck on your search
Dan

I have such a guitar, Collings SJ german/mahogany cutaway, 1 3/4 inch nut, clear pickguard (after market) and sunburst top and Gotoh 510s (antique brass) to boot. It is one heck of a guitar and less than one year old. It was a cedar top guitar but that gave way more than once and Collings offered to fix it with the top of my choice. It came out beautiful in sound and quality.

You know Rob, I was looking at these a couple years back, and I remember seeing several listed used. Not today for some reason!

The cutaway limits choices and most are Maple. I know you’re not much for Maple, but it goes well on these large jumbos. I certainly agree with the mahogany choice on any large-bodied guitar.

Forget about German, w/o a custom order. I don’t believe you want an overpriced new one, no cutaway, but this is a pretty example:

Thanks JD. I know it is not an easy one to find, but thought I would give it a try.

Still looking.
