Nice job GITM! No, it doesn't sound sloppy to me! Well done!

Default King’s Highway

Kind of an obscure gem……just a short little perfect tune!

Seems like TP has a long list of perfect little tunes. Another great cover Bob. Really enjoyed it.

Thanks for that, Joe. Made my day! I'm pretty much obsessed with his catalog these days, making up for lost time

Let’s hear some obscure stuff!

I enjoyed this Bob. Nice version of You Got Lucky.
Always liked this cool Petty tune

Nicely done GITM. Good vocal.
Is that a Gibson?

Enjoyed that a lot Bob. Another of the many Petty tunes I liked in its day and then forgot about. You got me playing Down South after your recent version. I think I’ll be trying to pick this one up also one of these days. TP is the gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks for listening, Joe. I messed around with the recurring keyboard riff but never found a voicing I liked and could play easily, so decided to omit that and "make it my own"

Thanks Ray, that's great to hear. I think that is the whole point of these "let's hear your" threads. And Petty was so prolific, I literally discover a great new song every day on his XM station. I'm glad the thread is still cooking!

Yes, sir. That's the main reason I recorded this one. I had just picked up the HP 635 W and after cleaning/restringing I wanted to hear it on a recording, so I picked a TP tune...

I think the guitar sounds good. It plays fast, which was the intent of the (very short-lived) HP series... I got a good deal on it.

Here's a quick and dirty little rocker from Dam the Torpedos. It came out when I was 20 years old and, if I remember correctly, and I'm pretty sure I do, it got me through a couple of nasty little breakups, because that's what's happening when you're 20. That album was HUGE to me - came out at just the right time, was the first time I saw TP (and he was phenomenal), it was the soundtrack of a particular time in my life. Kind of made me a fan for life, and if it hadn't some of his other stuff would have. I played this song for the first time a few days ago and I figured if I was gonna record it, I should do it while it still felt kind of raw, in case I somehow polished it up over time, because that would seriously miss the point!

Good stuff, Ray. I can’t believe I don’t know this tune! Way to keep the thread going!
