When I'm doing long drives (7 hours) I get tired of listening to music and I find some talk radio. I also enjoy listening to a hockey game or baseball game too.

"Talk radio" is only fun after midnight when all the UFO and conspiracy theory nuts come out of the woodwork.

I listen to SiriusXM satellite radio, mostly in my car. I find the music I want and no commercials. My wife loves to listen to NPR.
You couldn't PAY me to listen to talk radio. <shudder>

I listen to WXPN out of Philadelphia, and it has quite a variety of music. It's listener-supported, too, so public service announcements are limited. You can listen online:

Yes! I use that too, and I think it is how I discovered KBCS. There are so many great college and community stations, and streaming online means you can listen from anywhere.

I don't listen to any of those stations but I do like listening to Stanton Friedman on YouTube.

This! I loved working 3rd shift and listening to Art Bell all night between answering calls.... nowadays, it's Sirius when I in the Jeep and I'm either on Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, FOX News or the NFL Channel...

If I'm in the car, I'm mostly tuned to an NPR station, which around here is WNKU, owned by Northern Kentucky University.
I hear a good deal of artists and really good music that I may not be aware of, and even if I'm not a big fan of everything they play, it doesn't insult my intelligence like the aural sludge of Bro Country & Pop Diva crap played by most other stations... |

I'm assuming you are refering to over the air AM / FM?. As far as over the air radio, I only listen to talk sports radio. I get my news and music elsewhere. I do stream Pandora etc over my cell phone (car blue tooth). No need for Xirus as I never go over my data limit. One less bill per month which is ok in my book.

Here in Cleveland there is very little good music available on the radio. There is a wonderful Classical music station, WCLV, totally commercial free. Most of the time I listen to that. WKSU, Kent State University's NPR station used to have Folk music at night on the weekends, but now it's only a few hours on Sunday night, talk during the day and Classical at night. I listen to the Classical and on Saturdays all the NPR humorous shows. College radio is mostly music that sounds like a spoon in a blender, and Clear Channel owns all of the commercial stations and plays crap. Sirius, on the other hand is wonderful.
