Finally got a video clip done. Forgive my faltering playing in the latter half.

Headphones recommended

Wow, that is a great-sounding guitar. I'm fascinated by the story behind ancient Kauri, and the fact that wood that old is still workable and not petrified! Looking at the diameter of the tree being harvested on the first page of this thread, I couldn't help but think "man, there's no tree-size excuse if that wood isn't perfectly quartersawn!"

Hi MBE,

Thanks for the praise of the guitar it really was a great collaborative effort.
Ancient Kauri is an amazing tonewood it sustains like nothing I have ever worked with, the colour and shimmering whitebait grain is truly stunning. If you believe in the accuracy of carbon dating this wood actually is measured at 50,000 years +,and the bigger living trees themselves can be anywhere from a 1000 to 2000 years old. I use the younger living Kauri for my tops and the Ancient Kauri for back and sides, the two woods side by side look completely different.
And yip no excuse for non quartered wood when your log is that big!!

Cheers,

Christian.
