Default Extending/relocating gooseneck mic on CPX-8

The condenser mic inside my Yamaha CPX-8M is gooseneck mounted to the underside of the control panel on the side of the upper bout - as normal. But it only reaches as far as the soundhole. I want to position it to pick up sound from below the bridge area. Has anyone managed to find a way of extending or relocating the mic to enable me to do this? My initial thoughts are to relocate it onto a plate held in place by the end pin/jack socket. I just wondered if anyone has done this and already sourced the parts, got any tips etc etc.

Also, are replacement - high quality - gooseneck condenser mics available for fitting inside guitars? I've no real sense of how good or bad the Yamaha one is until I get it into a better position. It may be a bargain basement thing - dunno..
