Default Fender Masterbuilt Custom Shop Strat - Final price

"Like New" condition. This is a " '60's Closet Classic." This beautiful creation is from Masterbuilder, Jason Davis. There are rumored to be less than 50 Davis-built guitars in circulation, so this one is kinda rare. This Stratocaster sports a 3-tone sunburst finish and bound maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. I contacted Jason about his creations and he said this model uses regular 60's stock pickups. He also said, "I would include some small dings on the Closet Classics as it would probably have if it were 25+ years-old." The pickguard also shows some "aging" on the lower half of the pickguard. The neck is an incredible example of birdseye maple - absolutely stunning.

Nut is approx. 1 11/16", neck has a 9 - 9.25" radius. Neck shape is a somewhat deeper "C" shape. Frets appear to be 6105's - I'd describe then as narrow jumbos.

Comes with COA, case candy and a lightly relic'd G&G tweed case. This is one sweet sounding Strat. I would rate this as a 9.9/10.

Note: There is a typo on the COA, misspelling "Closet." It's called human error. Doesn't make it any more valuable, nor does it lessen the value of this beautiful instrument.

AGF PRICE: $3295 includes shipping/insurance CONUS

This is the lowest-priced Fender Masterbuilt on the internet. These go for $4k.

Ridiculously-low price on a Fender Masterbuilt Strat. And one barely touched, like this one.

Cool guitar, love the neck. Quick question, I don’t know much about sixties strats, would the fretboard binding have been original?

From those old enough to tell me, it seems it was more the exception than the rule. So Fender did it, but it wasn't a regular thing. Seems it was done around '66 and '67. It does really balance out the feel of the neck and looks really good.

Are you the original owner? Is this an actual "Masterbuilt" Fender? Or is it a Closet Classic with a Jason Davis "masterbuilt" neck?

There's a lot of drama surrounding the name "Jason Davis" with a lot of necks that went out with his name on it.

Any info would be appreciated.

Beautiful guitar!

Bought it from the original owner (a collector) about 18 months ago. It is a MB Strat. Spoke to Davis about it - was able to reach out to him. I've seen the stories about the necks and all. I have zero concerns about that stuff, as it has only been in two sets of hands - the collector's and mine. And if you're familiar with the background on him, you also know there may only be about 50 guitars of his out there anymore.

Like new, pretty awesome strat. Rare bound neck - for space-age comfort!
