Really looking good Chris! You gotta love the personality of a myrtlewood guitar; no two are ever the same. Your choice of the dark binding really complements the dark swirls in the wood. My myrtle has more of a tan/gold complexion, but I really like the contrast that I see on yours. Nice headstock. It's gonna sound awesome, too. Keep the pics coming!

The final coats of satin were applied and cured. Now on to the fun part- the steps that make it a guitar.

I'm pretty sure this thing needs frets:

Some headstock torture:

A bridge would be helpful too:

Some bridge torture as well:

I will be displaying this guitar at a local show on April 22nd in Springfield, MO. If you like guitars and are any where near (you know, within 1000 miles or so), stop by and give it a test drive. It'll still be fresh off the bench.

Hi! I like your definition of what "anywhere near" is! I'm sure you are speaking in terms of "guitar miles", so I guess that's a reasonable distance. I really do wish I was closer. I'd love to see your creation in person. I guess I'll have to settle for a picture of the finished product. It really looks beautiful so far. Great job! The NB Series rocks!

I drove 1,700 miles for SBAIC. So 1,000 miles is a cake walk, right?

You are so right! It's only 1281.5 miles from here to Springfield! Boy, have I gotten wimpy in my old age! Now, I could always plan ahead and take a road trip to Santa Barbara in August...hmmm. That's only 470 miles. Are you going to be bringing guitars there this year?

I won't be showing in Santa Barbara this year. Instead, I'm heading in the other direction- Woodstock 2017. We'll see what 2018 holds.

She's done!

Last weekend this beautiful NBD made it's debut at a local guitar show and was very well received. The satin finish turned well and got many nice complements at the show.

Tonally, it's got some pizazz- nice bass, volume, sustain, and more.

Here are some of the final photos:

This guitar will be for sale. I've not announced it on my website yet. So you heard it here first.

Best guitar I've seen anywhere, at this price point! Top caliber hand built, at a manufactured cookie-cutter price! What more could one ask for!?! This should be gone already .....

And this is your ENTRY LEVEL line of guitars...gimme a break! That baby looks so great! I told you that I love myrtlewood and as such I'm biased, but you have really done a fabulous job Chris. How's the note separation? This combo of woods seems to do a great job of providing clarity without stepping all over each other...that is awesome to behold. Just like all of your other concert models!

When I was putting together specs for my NB series, I was talking to a dealer. He was encouraging me to make them as cheap as possible- no rosette, oil finish, no binding, plain wood... That's just not me. I won't put my name on it (well, technically in it) if I'm not proud of it. The artistry of the design is important to me. It's one of the things that I love about lutherie. So, I didn't list to the guy and made them something I'm happy with and happy to put my brand on.

Note separation is one of the standards of the tone of my guitars. I don't like muddy sounding guitars. Who does? And this one has all the tone of my custom work.

More photos will be up on my website soon. Also, I'm working on getting a video put together. Stay tuned.

I had the pleasure of working with local player Sean Clavin to put together a demo video of this NBD. I really enjoyed hearing my guitar in such capable hands.

Enjoy and thanks for following along.
