Recording King RO-310
I just read about the new Recording King RO-310 in Acoustic Guitar Magazine. This guitar is an Adi/Hog 000 with scalloped X bracing. I used to own a Martin 000-18GE, which I had to let go. It was a killer instrument and, of course, had an Adi/Hog combination like the Recording King RO-310. I've never really considered an inexpensive Chinese acoustic (these can be had for around $450ish), but at fraction of the cost of the Martin, this one sure is compelling. I will say that I own two Epiphone electrics, which are Gibson clones and they are just great. No, really...
So, has anyone played one of these yet?

I have played and reviewed the Sitka topped version (the RO-10) here:
Recording King RO-10 and own and have reviewed the Adi over rosewood 12 fret 0 version, the RP1-327 here: Recording King RP1-327 So while I haven't played the RO-310 yet, I suspect it will be worth the money and then some. Dave |

I am a big fan of Music Link's Recording King and Loar brands. I own three Loars and plan on either a D-size or jumbo Recording King when I take a trip to the mid west and stop at Elderly. Don't let country of origin fool you. the RK and Loar are great guitars.

Get a Blueridge 143A or 140A instead. Adi over hog, and MUCH better in every way!

Thanks for your reply. I truly do appreciate your input. But, unless you've played the Recording King in question, how can you say the Blueridge is MUCH better? Maybe you have played it?

Pretty sure the Blueridge has a narrower nut width than the RK so it might come down to your string spacing preference.

I've owned both Blueridge guitars and Recording King guitars (and have a Loar mandolin). I have played, but not owned the BR-140A & BR-143A.
They are nice as well and I think it would depend on the particular guitar as to which would sound better. The Blueridge "A" models have the wide 1 3/4" nut, as does the 000 Recording King. The necks are slimmer feeling on the BR guitars, though. The BR is full scale, the RK is short scale - this is in the OM/000 size. As a disclaimer: I have no affiliation with either Blueridge (Saga) or Recording King (the Music Link), but both companies are headquartered in the SF Bay Area very near my home and I have made visits to both places over the years I've been living here. At times in the past, I have also been able to play prototype instruments from both companies. Last edited by kydave; 03-01-2013 at 04:59 PM. |

FWIW, apparently the RO-10 (the one I'm thinking about buying) has a SLIM neck... one of the very few difference between it and the RO-310.
RO-10: slimmer neck profile, no abalone rosette, 3-piece neck. I think that might be about it. $100 less than the RO-310.

Bingo!
There's one listed in the classified section right now. $375 with tweed HSC, shipped. A very good deal.
I have no interest in this transaction other then hopefully matching a guitar to a set of hands. Good luck. Dj P.s. I am an RK fan. |

I have no opportunity to play one locally and there are not many other reviews around. So, I decided to just buy one an check it out.
I'll report back after the guitar arrives and I have a chance to take it around the block a few times.

worth it!
My experience with RK has been nothing short of amazing. For the money you lay out, Greg Rich and co. give you a fair shake!
