Thumbs up Bulk Buy D'Adarios

I just got off the phone with Maverick Music Gear (www.mavmusicgear dot com) they are having a web only sale on a bunch o strings. One example is the D'Adario EJ-16 or EJ-17 ....EIGHT sets for $33 and no shipping . I ordered an eight pack , and told Brian I'd pass on the sale info to you all . If you don't want to do online /Paypal , they'll do the same deal on the phone (1-704-599-3700) I have no affiliation with Maverick, and do not gain from sharing this.. just passing it on.

Hi snkysnake...
I've used Maverick for strings for years - it's where I get my Elixirs and my EXPs. They have always been a great supplier and they have been prompt, and have never fowled up any orders.

Thanks for the heads up...here's a direct link (http://www.mavmusicgear.com/scripts/...tegory-159.asp)

...They're not the coated D'Addiaro's though.

I never see a special on the coated ones. (Which is what I use).

I got in on that from their ebay ad, with no shipping charge. The strings came in a timely manner.

Hi TS...
Not sure what you consider ''special.'' I pay $8 a set shipped in lots of 10. That is about $4 less than local.

Hi Larry,

Yes, $8 a set is a good price...I will have to consider purchasing them on-line. Thanks for pointing it out.

a while back, i heard someone say that strings that sit for extended periods of time go bad...

is that a myth? I typically only have 1 extra set of strings at a time.

Maybe the packaging D'addario uses prevents such deterioration

Great point Urbanmike...I was wondering the same and I think the answer is yes, they will diminishing in quality if sitting too long...even unopened and in their packaging.

I have opened string packages in the past to find some of them tarnished and or slightly weathered.

I think there might be something to your comment of buying only one or two packs at a time.

I thought the packaging of the D'addario strings was specifically designed to prevent them from getting "old" before you open them. Then again, I've only bought one package of D'addario's lately.

but i'd assume D'addario's plastic baggie packaging keeps things air-tight and prevents any kind of severe (maybe even slight?) oxidation.

Many people do buy bulk strings without an issue. Recently discussed here:

http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=135483

Hmmmmmm? Anyone else buy in bulk, good points on both sides.

So you get EXP16's from them for $8/set if you buy 10?

Free shipping, but there is a handling charge. Still a good deal.
