Default NGD: Greenfield G2.2

Howdy!

As some of you may know, I commissioned a Greenfield G2.2 (fan-fret) about 18 months ago -- build thread here: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=410804.

I spec'd & ordered the guitar through the fantastic Michael Watts @ TNAG. Last night was their annual anniversary dinner, and as luck would have it, my guitar was delivered from the airport an hour before the dinner!

Here's a few quick pics I took of it this afternoon. I'll spare you all with my gushing, but suffice to say: it exceeded ALL expectations. It is EXACTLY what I was after, and THEN SOME.

Even the case is gorgeous! Accord carbon fibre moulded case.

The money shot:

Amazon Rosewood back & sides. Delicious!

Michael's workmanship & precision is god-like.

The rather naughty glossy black neck really helps the veneer pop!

More to follow...

Joel

Holy Cow! If you can spare the time, I'd love to see a video of someone playing that guitar to see how it sounds and what the technique would look like. Thanks for sharing. I'm digging the case too.

wow that's a nice looking guitar, I’d like to try DADGAD on a guitar specifically designed for it.
What is the type of rosewood, gorgeous colors. I looked up ’Amazon’ and got confusingly mixed definitions.

I'll post a recording soon.

The fan is Michael's DADGAD geometry, so yeh it rocks in DADGAD

As for the rosewood, I believe the sciencey name is Dalbergia Spruceana.

I have very good memories of playing one of his guitars, and aesthetically he gets the balance right, nice one.

Stunning! Hope to hear a clip sometime The few I have been lucky enough to play have been the best instruments I have experienced.

Michael seems to have become quite guarded about sharing his scale lengths, but I believe the "DADGAD geometry" is 25"-26".

Is that an ebony neck or just stained really dark?

I don't know what there is to guard, just get a tape measure out.

Yes, that's true - the main thing I have noticed is that he has removed any specific info from his site regarding his multi-scale ranges as well as his baritone scales. You'll also notice this info seems to be missing from a lot of dealer websites advertising his guitars (ie Symphontree). This info used to be a lot more readily available on his old website.

Beautiful guitar! I'm curious as to how well it works in standard tuning? I realize that my sound strange but one can get quite respectable results in DADGAD without multi scale. I just wonder if the reverse is true?
