first of all, LOVE his work... secondly, the "elixir" was one of the first things I noticed, as I was appreciating his very "clean" workbench (something that I long to have one day). These are reasons I don't take many photos of my own bench... the elixirs and the mess. A nip of some single barrel on a cold day is good for the innards methinks.

Larry...Thanks for sharing the build. And definitely the right attitude after the health scare. Someone of your talent should go for the gusto in your guitar, it looks like you found it.

VERY interesting work by someone new to me. I don't see how to rationalize labeling it OM, but otherwise I don't see anything not to like.

My word that's a corker...

I love it...I am a fan of 13 fretters, OMs, spruce tops and of abstract wood work...

If I was in the market for a new custom build I would be calling Mr Kraut and asking for the Larry Pattis Signature model...

I'm kind of simple in my tastes with regard to looks, and the "art deco" is not really my cup of tea, but I bet this will have a great voice and I would love to be a fly on the wall in the room for the first few hours when you get it in your hands for the first time. I do like the lines of the guitar.

It reminds me a little of some guitars made by Michi Matsuda, another of Somogyi's proteges. The master is sending out deep roots.

Hope you really enjoy it. I know you will get the most out of it.

Cheers,

Default Concert sized!

I guess I am irretrievably caught up in a conservative world where OM is defined by the differences (and similarities) between that and the 000 in the Martin Paradigm. For me it MUST be 14 frets to the body, 15" wide, and have a string length around 25.4, though I'd accept 25 3/8 to 25 1/2. In my own nomenclature, if it does not have a Martinish template also, I will only refer to it as OMish, assuming it meets the other requirements.

What I call 15" guitars that are not OM(ish) by my rules is "Concert" sized. That includes things as left of center as my JB-15 as well as the Kraut project pictured herein. If I could wave my wand and make everyone agree with this, I believe I'd do it!

I sure agree about the "parlor" problem. I have compromised with the modern interpretation by allowing my 0 to be called parlor, but 00? Gotta draw the line somewhere; off with their heads!

No one has a parlor anyway, nor do acoustic guitars play in the Orchestra. Whatever.
