Well, here is the final piece of the puzzle... My friend Eli came over and he can play a lot better than I can so I took a video of him playing it. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking and sticking with me till the end. For the first two minutes he was in drop D.

Wow, that's a beautiful guitar. And I like the maple idea on the dred. Gives a lot of versatility for playing styles. The friend's YouTube video gives a good hint as to what could be done from a jazz angle with the maple influence.

I have one last picture...my dad engraved the truss rod cover and it looks really nice.
