It's good, and a decent value at around $14 in the stores. I like Beacon Theater, and even Squibnocket better though. The performances just seemed a bit more inspired in the earlier videos, and the camera didn't dwell as much on backup performers -- I like to see James. Interesting that long-time drummer Russ Kunkel plays on the DVD. I've seen him credited on soooo many old records I always listened to, and he did some of James' original recordings among them.

Overall, I'd recommend it, and it does have a few of the October Road tunes on it, but if you're a JT fan, you really need Live at the Beacon Theater.

Funny, I was going to ask about this too. I have Beacon theatre and I love it...i just put the new one on my amazon wishlist...

Which tunes from October Road made it, kkraus?

I love September Grass, October Road, whatever track 3 is, and Belfast to Boston (which I hated at first, but now i LOVE it)

Barnes and Noble should be sending this one to Santa soon. Live at Beacon was great.

"On the Fourth of July," "Whenever You're Ready," and "Raised Up Family" are on the DVD from October Road. They sound a tad different with the full band.

Details are on the unofficial JT site, along with lots of other good stuff:

To be honest, I was a little disappointed. Too many singers / band memegers. JT sounds great, looks good, but he seemed a little slow on his chages. Could age be catching up with his hands? The Olson looked great and the sound and production values are outstanding.

I bought the new DVD over the weekend. Haven't really had a chance to watch it yet. I did watch the interview entitled, "Making October Road," or something like that. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Can't wait to watch the whole concert. With 2 kids, it can be a little difficult - by the time you get them fed, watered and bathed, it's time to hit the sack.

I, too, love Beacon Theatre. Especially "daddy's all gone", with a Corona. Ahhh.....

I finally got a chance to view the DVD today. I have to preface this by saying James Taylor is one of my all time favorites and in book, he can do no wrong.

I thought it was a great performance. He's been a very consistant performer over the years, especially in the last 15 years or so. I really enjoyed this one, as much as the Beacon Theatre and the Live at the Colonial Theatre videos.

The band is great and even though they have played the same tunes over and over again for the last 100 years, they always seem to change the arrangements to keep things interesting.

Default Not too Shabby!!!

Live at the Beacon was ..,,,,ahhhh a bit HOLD back, he was trying to feel the gig/concert vibe for some reason. I have the NEWLY improved latest one called: Pull Over which has most if not all the stuff that's on the BEACON one. But here?? He was more relaxed and at eased. He was cracking JOKES from time to time a lot. Great intros.Ypu could feel that this was his NIGHT!!!.

Peace!

The Beacon Theatre show was originally a performance broadcast live nationally on PBS, maybe he had a small case of nerves?
