Default I hope we’re not scaring new visitors away.

A lot of the threads here in Carbon Corner seem to have very quickly been sidetracked into a lot of daft nonsense.

Yes , guilty .

While I enjoy this harmless badinage, I sometimes fear that a passer-by might think we are a bit cliquey and keep on passing by.

Maybe we should all tone down the gay banter and not put any newcomers off carbon guitars or from joining in.

Anyhoo, just my thought for the day,,,
obviously, the after effects of the pub are wearing off and following my earlier excited ravings, I’m falling into a melancholy mood now ....

Looks like an "old" visitor has been scared off too. I miss his input. I rarely participate, but I enjoy the banter and cheer. I see no harm. There doesn't seem to be any issue with new folks or others interested in CF starting new threads so I don't see an issue. Of course I haven't had time at the pub to think about it either. Good topic for discussion Jon.

I enjoy the good-natured banter here. I think carbon fiber guitar enthusiasts tend to be OK with being less "traditional." We seem to find what we like, but are still able to appreciate others choices that may not be the same as ours. Even to the point that many of us can still see the good in that old-fashioned wood stuff.

As far as folks coming and going - that happens in all forums. Our needs and desires change. Some come to learn, then move on. Some hang out here because of the personalities of others. There is a sailing forum where I have been participating for over 20 years... even though I haven't had a sailboat for almost a decade. I stay because of the personalities and the friends I've made there (many that I have met in person). This CF sub-forum reminds me of that - friendly, welcoming folks, willing to share and encourage.

More so than any other guitar forum I've been on, I see open and friendly exchange here. While I was curious about carbon fiber, it was the encouragement here that helped me take that first "leap of faith" to get a CF guitar.

Of course, since that time, y'all have been a bunch of enablers. Yeah, this is a special guitar place on the internet.

Well, it does seem like a rather tight knit group.

Fun and we do learn a lot from each other... and sometimes believe or not.. stuff about guitars... like 6 strings on some of them... but which strings?

Personally I like the badinage. I will however adjust as necessary for my tone not to be perceived as persiflage.

That Word of the Day calendar is working out, huh?

I always learn something here. This place is downright didactic.

What we need is a "Chord of the Day" calendar, and to put away those goldarned hifalutin' "word of the day" ones.

I had to look:

Persiflage--to banter

As one of the persiflagers I believe that a bit of daftness can add some lightness to a dark day, and sometimes our days do darken. I find this forum a much nicer read than my morning newspaper.

And hay, I was once a newbie here, and Kramster didn't scare me a bit.
