I'm an insurance agent. We get a lot of elderly folks that come to the office to pay instead of mailing their payment. And I know the only reason they do it is to have a chance to socialize with somebody. So we visit for 20 minutes or so, then my assistant will "call" me from the other room so I can wrap things up, otherwise some of these folks would talk all day.

My assistant is not a young woman, she's in here 50's, but is quite attractive. I get a kick out of the old men that come in and stand out at the front desk trying to think of anything to say to keep a conversation going so they can stare at her some more.

On the other hand if you guys looked at things in a more positive light, started playing out/formed a band, and sorta casually passed the word every time you had a "chance encounter" , you'd have an instant following; in my very recent personal experience the club owner/event director couldn't care less whose buns are in the seats buying the food/drinks, or how old they are - it's all about the bottom line (no pun intended) plain and simple, and in both our business and theirs nothing succeeds like success...

I'm retired. Been married to the same woman for 46 years. She doesn't let me date, so when I go to the grocery store solo (rare), it is with a list in hand... maybe the single ladies there can see the panic on my face as I shop, hoping to not pick the wrong green beans.

She frequently goes to the store solo... should I be worried?

When I was single the place for meet ups was the wine section of the grocery store. "Have you tried this cab?.... I'm looking for a good one for a gift, can you help me?"

I went to a company seminar a couple years back and a speaker said, "If you look forward to Friday more than Monday, you are probably in the wrong job". I know what her thinking was, but nobody bought that crap!

If it’s the same store Harry’s talkin’ about then yes Jim, worry....

Hey ! Who remembers the bit in “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” where Rigby Reardon, (Steve Martin), has to go to the supermarket on Friday disguised as a blonde woman; to find some bad guy who is known to frequent supermarkets on Fridays trying to pick up blonde women ?

It’s intercut with a scene from Double Indemnity with Fred McMurray (Steve M plays the Barbara Stanwyck part)

One of my favourite films of all time.
