My interpretation is all news sources have a political bent - some of which I "agree with" more than others.
I make it a point to thoroughly make my rounds through myriad sites, taking in the "news" from multiple different perspectives. I can't name even one sites/source I think truly delivers a well rounded and thorough telling of the news without putting their own spin on it. For big US news, dailymail.uk comes close enough to deserve an honorable mention. |

I look at a wide array of news sources, on both sides of the fence so to speak ... If one sticks to news (sources) strictly in their comfort zone, they are less informed.

Fox for the perspective from the right, CNN or MSNBC for the perspective from the left.
I figure the truth is somewhere between the two... It was quite comical to switch back and forth on election night. I had to wonder if they all were even covering the same election. |

CBS, Huffington Post, CNN, BBC, and various newspapers. Occasionally Der Spiegel and Haartz if it an international storyline I am following.

I prefer the various news aggregator apps, including the built in iOS one. Two reasons:
1) No autoplay videos 2) I can construct my own bouillabaisse of news sources, skip the sanctimony and hysteria, and generally piece together a quasi-rational take on things, peppered with some nice NatGeo stories.

I don't watch any news programs...ahhh sacrilege.
I know, I know, my post is worthless to the OP's question, but my life is quite stress free and pleasant.

I use my iPad’s Apple News app which I configured to report from sources I more or less trust or respect.
I also get Apple News notifications in the form of emails. |

I mostly use the built in News app on a Windows 8 tablet. It lets you add topic searches and RSS feeds to it. I don't find the News app included with Windows 10 to be as good. My older Windows 8 tablet is wearing out, I'll need to move to something else eventually.
RSS, (a standard technology going back to the 20th Century that lets you ask a site to notify an app what the latest stories posted from a site are) is still a great way to pull the recent stuff from many sites. I agree with others here, autoplay videos are the worst.

I don't watch TV; rather I haven't for 25 or 30 years.
The last thing I watched on TV (at a friend's house) was the World Trade Center towers falling down. On the Internet I go to BBC, NPR, and Aljazeera for stories likely to have excessive western bias. I dislike the whole idea of those customizable "news" feeds that only show you what you like, or block subject X and Y. I feel an obligation to be at least minimally informed of hard news stories. That said I have no interest in popular celebrity news, I mean gossip, so I skip over those stories. Actually I don't consider that to be news. I almost never know whom someone is talking about if the conversation is about famous entertainment folks. I don't mind being ignorant about this topic. Last edited by Tico; 10-12-2017 at 02:10 PM. |

First thing in the morning, the ABC7 Chicago news app on my iPad (which now serves as my, uh, "comfort station library"). Then WBBM Newsradio if I'm heading out (gives sports, traffic & weather every 10 min.). NYTimes.com is my main online go-to (and I do pay for the premium version & crosswords). On TV during the day, I channel-surf between MSNBC and CNN if one goes to commercial. I don't use either of their websites. I do get daily e-mail bulletins from the WaPo and Boston Globe websites, so if I see a story which piques my curiosity I'll go there.
On the road--outside the Chicago broadcast area--via satellite, NPR & BBC World Service. I got annoyed by the commercial breaks on MSNBC's satellite version--the weight-loss device, hair-regrowth potion, investment and business-internet services; "1-877-Kars for Kids" (make it stop!!!) and especially until a couple of years ago that infuriating jingle (and its premise) that went: "Ashley Madison man, does what he can to provide for his home and his family"... (I was never more pleased to see a company forced out of business)
