Question Upgrading tuners? Should I and How?

Well there's been much ado about the new Taylor tuners, so it will be interesting to go another way with the discussion:
I have a new (april 2003) 814CES and I have been watching the tuning stability lately, only to conclude that it seems to be slipping a little every day. However, my 814 has the 'old' gold grover tuners!!!

Mitigating circumstances:
1) the weather has changed and the central heating is currently on in the house (though hardly in my guitar room and there both the temperature and the humidity have only dropped a few points)
2) I have been playing a lot lately
3) I have been watching it very closely lately, so maybe it's always been this way.

Question: Will it help to upgrade the tuners to Gotohs (510) and can I do that without being left with visible damage to the guitar?

I would change strings first, and check that the nut has no little burrs or anything in the string slots. The nut should allow the strings to move through the slots with no undue friction.

Also, check and make sure the tuners are tight at the tuning pegs...it's not something you'd really notice unless the string tension is off them.

Cool thanks! How would I tighten the tuning pegs if they have play in them?

10mm wrench will do the trick, and it would probably be a good idea to loosen the strings first, to check if the Grovers need tightening.
