Default Luthier's Consortium rides again!

After a 4-year hiatus, the Luthiers Consortium will again be at the winter NAMM Show displaying guitars and mandolins made by a select group of the finest North American hand builders.

By day we will exhibit instruments in Booth 2812 in Hall D, which we share with the ToneRite Company. Each evening from Thursday through Saturday we will hold an event at our hotel, the Islander Inn at 424 W. Katella, where these and many additional instruments built by our participants will be available for play, perusal and purchase.

On Thursday and Friday evenings our event will be a unique Guitar Salon. Those who are interested in buying a hand-built instrument or in learning about the art of fine lutherie will have the opportunity to play and listen to our instruments in a quiet, unhurried environment, with the advantage of having each instrument’s maker present to advise and answer questions.

Saturday evening's event will be a jam party as we have held in prior years. Our instruments will again be available for play or purchase. Refreshments will be served, and some great players will stop in to pick and grin. Jamming is encouraged and musical joy is a strong possibility.

The Luthiers Consortium is an amorphous non-organization of instrument makers who are dedicated to excellence in their craft and who eschew factory methods in favor of creating one-of-a-kind pieces of the luthier's art.

The NAMM Show in Anaheim is the largest trade show of musical instrument manufacturers in North America. It is not open to the general public. Our events, however, are open to all lovers of fine lutherie.

I'm honored to be included in this well organized non-organization this year. Thanks to some generous and trusting owners, I'm bringing these two and a cedar/walnut Classic model.
