NPD---Big Muff.........
Bought it new from Sweetwater...sounds incredible. Think Early Rolling Stones, The Who...Neil Young's Rocking in the Free World....It blows away every distortion pedal I have. If you're looking for that special sound, this is it....

I have the Nano and love it. You can get a ton out of it. It is a staple on pedal boards for many genres. I like it in combination with my Blues Driver. Both with my Gretsch and Bassbreaker which arrive in the next few days will be FUN.

Isn't that a Fuzz Face?

An early Big Muff with the sustain turned way up gets you there, and also works well for Gilmour's tone on the Comfortably Numb solos.

Yep, understood and agree (my Basic Audio Foxey Lady fuzz is a pre-Muff circuit). Just clarifying that EJ’s classic violin tone specifically involves a Fuzz Face.

I have an older green Russian/Sovtek model, and while it doesn't currently live on my pedalboard, it is the only thing that gives me *THAT* sound. Every time I plug into my Muff, there are a few hours of riffs to run through before I exhaust the thing. It doesn't like anything more than two strings at a time, so it's certainly not for every use. But for saturation, sustain, and full, rich tone, it can't be beat. It's the only pedal I know of that can take a single note and make it sound as full as a chord.

I used to have a big Green Russian one and it stopped working so I threw it away, who knew I could get $300 bucks for it on Reverb today!
I love the Big Muff. Currently rocking a Guitar Gadgets DIY Rams Head Violet Muff, supposedly the one Gilmore used on Animals and around that time. |
