Very nice John. I always enjoyed hearing this song because of its backstory. When George wrote it, he was obligated to publish it under the 'Northern Song' Publishing House moniker, which for many reasons, he detested. I also remember reading that there was a quota of songs that had to be filled for the publishing house.
Hence the words: "It doesn't really matter what chords I play What words I say or time of day it is As it's only a Northern song" Thanks for sharing! Rick

My understanding that the royalty cut for Northern Songs was 45% each Lennon and McCartney and 5% each for Ringo and George. So George created Harrisongs, Ltd. to publish his own music. |
