Default Strats from 90's compared to 2000's

I was in getting a lesson the other day and I was shooting the breeze with the guy at the guitar center and he was looking over my guitar and said that my mexican strat from 97-98ish was built a lot better than the ones they build today.

I didn't really think anything of it at the time but now my curiosity is running wild.

Can anyone of this confirm or elaborate on this statement? Just wanted to throw this out there to pick your all's brain.

Truck.

If he means the Mexican Strats from the 90's are built better than the current Mexican Strats than may well be; if he means Mexican Strats from the 90's are built better than the current American ones, I find that hard to believe......

Yeah referring to other mexican strats. It was the first guitar I ever bought 11 years ago. Pretty solid guitar once I switched out all of the electronics.
